Barbie Barbie Barbie: A Supercut

Last night, thanks to a different edit, I rediscovered Barbie’s Birthday Party, a home video dated 1994 that I must have watched dozens of times as a young, impressionable child. And now, as a cynical adult, I get to react to the ridiculous commercialism of my youth with a supercut, an art form which I love but have never done before and had to make up as I went along.

So, partially inspired by 200 Christmases in 2 Minutes, I took the 30-or-so-minute video and cut it down to 1:47 of only people saying/yelling/singing the word “Barbie.” I hope it gets to the point where the word/name/brand becomes a meaningless jumble of sounds, because that’s kind of what I was going for.

Anyway, this was a surprisingly fun way to spend a Tuesday, and it would be super cool if you could pass this along in some kind of viral capacity.

Enjoy!

"This is just wrong, Barbie has always been white, and to change her race and keep her name, for the sake of profit or any other reason, is just sick."

— So says the moronic first commenter on a CNN article about something stupid. STUPID STUPID STUPID MATTEL AND COMMENTERS AND CNN.
