"The destruction of property is exactly what Occupy is protesting against; it’s what the banks took from us…Protest property crimes, by committing crimes against property? It’s nonsensical."

Tina Dupuy, “Why #OWS Needs to Denounce Violent Tactics on Display at Occupy Oakland” (via shitliberalssaytoradicals)

I was at an Occupy LA General Assembly last night, with several people arrested in Oakland. Here’s what one said: “When a fence is standing between you and your ability to escape police, who are firing rubber bullets and tear gas at you, YOU TEAR DOWN THE FUCKING FENCE.”

AND also, while we’re on the subject, this is a controversial point of view among Occupiers, but property is not people. This is an archaic idea in a post-Citizens United world, I realize, but breaking a window is not violence in the same way that using tear gas against children, as OPD did, is. So Alternet, you can go fuck yourself.
